Before you begin to install the
AdvaTEX software make sure your system is connected to the internet and you
got a Bluetooth dongle / antenna.

What do I need
for a AdvaTEX® social marketing hotspot?
- A PC/Laptop or minicomputer
- A Bluetooth stick / antenna
- An USB pen drive
- Free AdvaTEX software packages for Windows, Apple
or Linux
- A Bluetooth enabled mobile phone
What are the costs?
You can download the full AdvaTEX software and try it for free.
If you
choose to install for Windows or Apple, additional free software is
needed Linux Debian OS
To use AdvaTEX under
Windows please download the two software packages from the
AdvaTEX website. Before you
begin, make sure your system is connected to the internet and you have
a Bluetooth dongle or antenna.
AdvaTEX for Windows manual
Please
follow the following steps:
1) Download and install
VirtualBox from AdvaTEX download website
2) Download the AdvaTEX
software for Windows from the AdvaTEX download website
3) Start "Virtual Box" and click on tab.
4) Once you see the welcome screen, click on "Next"
5) Enter a name for your virtual machine (choose any name)
6) Choose "Linux" as operating system
and as Version: "Debian"
7) Click on next
8) Do not change the memory size, leave it as it is suggested. Click
next until you reach the "Virtual Hard Disk"-options
9) For the
Virtual Hard Disk make sure that "Boot
Hard Disk" is selected and choose "Use existing hard disk". Click
on the folder image to select the correct hard disk.
10) On the Virtual Media
Manager click "Add" and select vortex4.vdi (The file you have downloaded
from the AdvaTEX website. Then click on "Select"
11) You should now be back on the page "Virtual Hard Disk". Click on
"Next".
12) On the Summary page click on "Finish". The installation is now
completed.
13) IMPORTANT: Before the next steps make sure that your PC/Laptop is
connected to the internet and your Bluetooth antenna is plugged in.
14) To install your Bluetooth stick, go to the Virtual Box and then to
"Settings" > "USB".
15) On the right hand side click on the USB symbol (with a green plus
sign) to install your Bluetooth stick. Once you clicked on the symbol,
you should see an "unknown" USB stick. Select that stick and click on
"Ok".
16) On the home menu of the Virtual Box, click on "Start". The software
starts automatically.

- To use AdvaTEX you have
to first register yourself as a user and afterwards your connected
devices (PC/Laptop or MiniPC)
New User registration Process
A) New User registration Process - How to register yourself as a user
1) On your
mobile phone go to your contacts and create a new contact entry with the Last
Name "setuser". Next, in the Email field please enter your valid email address.
All other fields (first name, phone number etc.) have to remain empty. Do not
forget to save your new contact called "setuser".
2) Now send your contact to your Bluetooth USB stick. (The name of the Bluetooth
Stick is preset to "AdvaTEX") Usually, this is done by selecting the contact in
your contact list, then click on "Send" and select "Send via Bluetooth".
3) After you have successfully sent the contact (Last Name: "setuser", Email "youremail@yourdomain.com")
to your Bluetooth stick, please go to
New User Registration page
4) Please
enter your e-mail-address and click "Register User". Please note: This email
address must be the same email address you have previously used for your
contact.
5) After clicking on "Register User" you will be shown a page with the first
half your password. Make sure to copy the password. It is recommended that you
write it down or copy it into a textfile. (Caution: This part of the password
will not be sent via email for security reasons. If you do not copy the
password, you will not be able to register (but you can always obtain a
new password for a new or an already existing user account ).
6) Part 2 of your password will be sent via email after the registration
process. Please check your email account. You should now have both parts of your
passwords. Please "merge" these 2 parts and use them for the next step.
7) Now go to the
Login
Page and enter your
email address and your full password (both parts). (you can also obtain a new
password for a new or an already existing user account )
B) How to register your PC/Laptop or MiniPC as a social marketing hotspot
1) Please take your mobile phone go to your contacts and create a new contact with the
last name "sethostuser". Next, in the email field please enter your valid email
address. All other fields (first name, phone number etc.) have to remain empty.
Do not forget to save your new contact entry.
2) Now send your contact to your Bluetooth USB stick. (The name of the Bluetooth
Stick is preset to "AdvaTEX0") Usually, this is done by selecting the contact in
your contact list, then click on "Send" and select "Send via Bluetooth".
If there are problems to see your Bluetooth stick or to send to it
please check your internet connection and maybe try with another
Bluetooth stick.
3) After you have successfully sent the contact (Last name: "sethostuser"
and your Email address
"youremail@yourdomain.com") to your Bluetooth stick, please go to the
Login
Page and login with your user name (= your email address) and your
password) and the click on "Hosts". You should now
be able to see the registered host (= your social marketing hotspot).
